We are excited about sharing our home with you.
We enjoy visiting with our guests and are happy to share our favourite dining spots and tourist attractions and answer any questions you might have about the area.
There’s so much to see and do in the Vernon area. We encourage you to visit the Vernon Tourism website at
www.vernontourism.com. It will give you an idea of how much time you might like to spend in this area. Some of our favorite activities and places to visit are:
If you need any assistance in booking any adventure
tours, golf etc., we’d be more than happy to assist. A couple of the
special things some of our guests have really enjoyed are a canoe trip
down to Gray Monk Winery, a tasting and lunch, or spending the day
digging for Opals with the folks from Okanagan Opal .
If you are into flying, look at Okanagan Aviation --
they offer 1/2 hour and 1 hour flights around the valley, or you can
design your own sightseeing tour and they will be happy to take you.
While we’ve only been at Harbour Lights since 1999, we
had stayed here as guests since the B & B was built in 1991. When it
came up for sale, we made a very quick lifestyle change and left the
Calgary area for the beauty of the Okanagan.
Doug is a Chartered Accountant and had his own practice in Calgary,
while Joyce had been with the Canadian Charolais Association for 25
years. We enjoyed the work in the City and the country life on an
acreage where we raised cattle. As a result of her involvement in the
beef industry, Joyce was instrumental in organizing and attending
several international events. As a result, they hosted many people from
around the world and across Canada and developed an avid interest in
travel and entertaining.
His interest in and love of wine prompted Doug to take on the position
of Area Manager of the Opimian Wine Society of Canada of which he had
been a member for over 20 years. As a couple they were responsible for
the education and enjoyment of wine for the 900 plus members in Southern
Alberta. Doug loves to discuss and to taste wine and has a vast
knowledge of the Okanagan wine industry. Since moving to Vernon Doug has
become very involved with the Canadian and Vernon Power and Sail
Squadrons and spends many enjoyable hours instructing the various
boating, VHF Radio and GPS courses offered by the Squadron.

| Their combined interests in entertaining, cooking, wine, agriculture, ranching, travel and sailing contribute to the enjoyment of hosting guests at the B & B. They agree that “we are enjoying the Okanagan Valley, the lake view and the opportunity to enjoy life at a slower pace – visit us at Harbour Lights – we look forward to sharing it all with you” |
